Apple Crumble

INGREDIENTS

  • ½ cup all purpose flour
  • ½ tsp cinnamon
  • ½ tsp mixed spice
  • ½ cup white sugar
  • 75g butter
  • ½ cup rolled oats
  • 4 medium sized apples
  • Sultanas or raisins (optional)
  • Sprinkle of cinnamon and sugar

METHOD

Preheat the oven to 190 °C. Grease a pie dish.

Measure the flour, spices and sugar into a bowl or food processor. Cut or rub in the butter until crumbly, then add the rolled oats.

Peel and slice the apples and place them into your pie dish, sprinkle with extra cinnamon and sugar and add the sultanas or raisins if using.

Apple Crumble

Sprinkle the crumbly topping over the apples and bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes.

If the crumble mixture isn’t crumbly but sticks together, it will be fine. Flatten pieces of the mixture and place over the apples until they are covered and then bake.

Serve hot with ice cream or custard.
